1. I am making a tiny limp vellum binding. It’s got a red edge and rounded corners. Tradition, you know. It is possible that I should have waited until after I sewed it before doing edge decoration, but it’s too late now!

  2. Risi also loves graphite edges and better registration. Although I am less keen on the aggressively trimmed foredge. Risi also loves graphite edges and better registration. Although I am less keen on the aggressively trimmed foredge.

  3. Look. Look I made a book. And then I took some pictures of it.
The design is FLAWLESS. Also HILARIOUS. Supposing you know the book. See, it’s called The Periodic Table (it is about a Jewish chemist during World War II) and all the chapters are named after elements. So, the cover is the periodic table with the elements with chapters named after them highlighted. The gold one is gold. The edge is graphite with the chapter titled “Gold” gilt.
Tragically, while I was surface gilding I dripped stuff on the cover and then it became hideous and so I had to put a patch over it and it is super obvious and embarrassing. Also, it doesn’t quite close because one of the doublures doesn’t stick to the joint like it ought, and I should have pared it thinner, but I was getting close to the deadline and apparently was too nervous to do good work.
But now it is on exhibit, and not very well lit, so you can barely tell! Look. Look I made a book. And then I took some pictures of it.

And paper and books and all that.
